Kanye West got many people talking yesterday after he showed up at the Paris Fashion Week wearing a “White Lives Matter” shirt.

This comes one day after the rapper walked the runway for Balenciaga, before proceeding to present his own Yzy Szn 9 fashion show.

At the event, he was spotted wearing a long-sleeve T-shirt with the phrase “WHITE LIVES MATTER” emblazoned on the back, and on the front is the image of Pope John Paul II and the words “Seguiremos Tu Ejemplo,” which translate in English to “We Will Follow Your Example.”

Kanye West decision to wear a “White Lives Matter” shirt is disgusting, dangerous, and irresponsible. Some of y’all will rush to defend him. You should ask yourselves why… pic.twitter.com/YT4a6c9tKI— Marc Lamont Hill (@marclamonthill) October 3, 2022

It is worthy to note, as Rolling Stone points out, that “White Lives Matter” is categorized by the Anti-Defamation League as a “hate slogan”, a slogan used by white supremacist groups including the Ku Klux Klan and the Aryan Renaissance Society.

Speaking about the concept behind his collection, Kanye West told Vogue: “There’s just people. From the same planet. And sometimes, in high school, it feels like we don’t fit in. And in a situation like this, we have the opportunity to come together to express who we are.”
